8 July 2002 The WritersForumWriting can be a solitary business. To provide a meeting place, WritersServices has created the WritersForum. The Forum offers a Discussion Group, a Showcase for new writers and a facility for those organising writers' groups. During the coming year, we hope to set up links to writers' groups. We'll offer each group a free web space, which they can use as a bulletin board to post notices and recruit new members. 'We recognise it takes years to build up a good discussion forum. But the increasing use of the net makes this investment worthwhile. Over the years we can expect to see international groups meeting using web audio and, who knows, eventually even video links.' commented Charles Jones, the Technical Director of the site. PS In May 2004 we were forced to close the forum by one of the firms criticised in the forum. We routinely asked those criticised to respond to their critics. It is arguable if the rules that allow firms to gag accurate comment are in the best interest of free speech.
