Winchester 25 June to 2 July
There's still time to book for the 24th Annual Writers' Conference in Winchester, UK, which runs from 25 June to 2 July with the main conference over the weekend 25-27 June and the week-long workshops to follow. The opening speaker at the plenary session will be the children's author and poet Kevin Crossley-Holland. There are 12 mini-workshops on Friday 25 June, dealing with specific subjects such as Writing Effectively for Children and Marketing it and How Agents Work for Writers. Then over the main two days of the conference there are no less than 60 workshops, covering a huge range of topics from Bringing Your People to Life to Editing to Improve Your Quality as a Writer and Poetry: Instinct and Emotion. Chris Holifield of WritersServices will be running a session entitled From Ms to Publication, taking writers through submission processes and all the way to seeing your book published. (WritersServices will also be at the Bookfair, so come and talk to us there and find out more about the website and our WritersPrintShop.) All day on the Saturday there will be the invaluable 'one-to-ones', which enable individual writers to talk to someone in the business for 15 minutes to get some specific advice. In the evening there is the extensive AWC awards ceremony and a big celebratory dinner. Then during the following week there are four week-long workshops on writing fiction and articles, and writing for children and for the media. Contact the Annual Writers Conference at www.gmp.co.uk/writers/conference for more information. |
