Commonwealth Prize Short Story Competition
Prize for overall winner £1,000 5 regional winners £1,000 Closing date 30 November 2011 Eligibility: open to unpublished writers over 18 who are Commonwealth citizens.
Awarded for the best piece of unpublished short fiction
(2,000–5,000 words). Submissions must be made by the author of
the short story.
The prize covers the Commonwealth regions of 1. Africa, 2. Asia, 3. Canada and Europe, 4. Caribbean and 5. Pacific. A distinguished panel of judges is chaired by Bernardine Evaristo. is only open to published writers. The £10,000 prize for the best book by an
established author disappears, and the first book prize is upgraded from £5,000
to £10,000, becoming simply the
Commonwealth Book Prize. |
