The winner of the
2009 T S Eliot Prize for Poetry
Tonight at a glamorous
award ceremony in the elegant courtyard of the Wallace Collection in London the Poetry Book Society
announced the winner for 'the world's top poetry award' (the Independent).
Judges Simon Armitage
(Chair), Colette Bryce and Penelope Shuttle chose
The Water Table by
Philip Gross, published by Bloodaxe
as the winner.
The
shortlist consisted of the following 10 collections from the 98 new books published in 2009 submitted by UK
and Irish publishers:
