The Writer’s Journey: From Inspiration to Publication

Do you want to make this the year you realise your writing dreams? Here’s how you can do just that guided by the inside information and practical support offered by professional writers’ coach Julia McCutchen.

Are you passionate about writing yet not sure how to release your true creative spirit and discover your writer’s voice?

Do you have a wonderful idea for a book yet feel daunted by the prospect of approaching agents or publishers with it?

Would you like to have the confidence to write a superb publishing proposal and pitch your work effectively?

If so, then the Writer’s Journey Individual Coaching Service for non-fiction writers may well be for you. (If you are a fiction writer, see the note at the bottom of the page.)

This new service offers you the opportunity to develop your writing with the benefit of individual feedback, personal guidance and practical advice from Julia McCutchen, a publishing professional with 20 years' experience of the publishing industry who now works as a publishing consultant and creativity coach. For more information see Julia's article How coaching can help writers and details of Julia’s book The Writer’s Journey: From Inspiration to Publication.

If you are thinking about signing up for the Coaching service, you might like to consider reading Julia’s book first to get a clear idea of her approach – and a helpful, practical guide to preparing your non-fiction writing for professional presentation to agents and publishers.

What the coaching service offers

Three levels of service are offered exclusively for WritersServices via telephone consultation and email support:

The Writer’s Journey Starter Package is made up of 3 sessions of coaching of 45 minutes each which can be booked to suit you at any time over a 2 month period from the date of your first session.

This package is for you if you have only recently started writing or haven’t even started yet but would like to begin.

The focus is on the first stage of the writer’s journey: Nurturing your creative spirit and developing your writing practice.

The Writer’s Journey Preparing for Publishers Package is also made up of 3 sessions of coaching of 45 minutes each which can be booked to suit you at any time over a 2 month period from the date of your first session.

This package is for you if you are already underway with your writing and are clear about the idea you want to present to agents and publishers.

The focus is on: preparing your work for publishers including how to write a first class publishing proposal and approach the right people in the right way.

The Writer’s Journey Complete Package is made up of 5 sessions of coaching of 45 minutes each covering the 5 key stages on the journey from inspiration to publication. Sessions can be booked to suit you at any time over a 3 month period from the date of your first session.

This package is for you if you would like guidance, support and feedback at each step of your journey and are ready to make your writing - and potentially finding a publisher for your book - a priority.

The 5 key stages covered are:

  1. Nurturing your creative spirit and developing your writing practice.
  2. Being clear in the communication of your message and identifying what’s different about your book.
  3. Knowing who is interested to hear what you have to say and naming your target reader.
  4. Presenting yourself and your work professionally and appropriately by writing a first class proposal and making a strong pitch.
  5. Following through for success and developing your ideas for sales, marketing and publicity.

How To Proceed

Email WritersServices specifying which package you are interested in and outlining exactly what help you are looking for as well as where you have got to so far with your writing. Your email will be passed on to Julia.

You will then receive a response which, from the information you have supplied, confirms if the package you have chosen appears to be the right one for you, quotes a price and, if you want to go ahead, requests payment.

Once your payment has been processed, you will be contacted directly by Julia McCutchen via email.  She will arrange all further details regarding your coaching sessions directly with you. These will include organising times for your telephone consultations and, where appropriate, how to submit material for discussion and review.
